Relationships by Design Type

Are you living your life the way you want to be right now?

We are designed to love ourselves and be powerful and unique expressions, each showing up with our own design. Each day we can decide our direction. But conditioning will sometimes take us off the path on our own and in relationships. So, the first step, if you are not currently in a relationship, is to come from a place of authenticity so you attract what’s truly right for you. Looking at Human Design Type is a good place to start.

There are certain things that each of the five Human Design Types might need when in a relationship. It could be a romantic relationship, but it could also be with a friend, colleague, sibling, parent, etcetera.

Manifestors

  • Must experience their creative flow on their timing.
  • Must consistently inform your partner about your actions. It allows your partner to enable themselves to support you best or not be worried about where you are or what you are doing.
  • Make statements to figure out what’s going on, like … “I’m wondering if…” or “Tell me about….” Asking Manifestors a question is not always the right energy for them. It causes them to drop into their conditioned expression, which doesn’t feel good.
  • Anger happens from an inner creative flow that doesn’t have a language to it, so a Manifestor can get angry when their flow gets interrupted.

Generators

  • Generators must be busy following their passion and doing what they love. If they are in a relationship and can’t do what they love to do, they will get burned out, taking a toll on your relationship.
  • Must ask Generators yes/no questions. Don’t tell them what to do. Ask them questions. Not a single Human Design likes to be told what to do, including Generators.

Manifesting Generators

  • The MG needs freedom like Manifestors. MGs can be without people. It doesn’t mean they don’t love them … it means they don’t need them. If a Manifesting Generator gets into a relationship with Generator, Projector, or Reflector, its partner may get disappointed because the MG doesn’t need them.
  • They need to follow a passion and inform their partner if it impacts them as they do things. It’s not about asking permission, just letting them know what they are taking action on.
  • To move frustration energy, the Manifesting Generator needs to move physically.

Projectors

  • Need recognition and attention. They have to be seen and be heard. They need to be invited.
  • They need to talk to get clarity. They are not asking for advice; they are guiding themselves. They need to process out loud. Do not give projectors advice. Give them space to process their day or thoughts.
  • Ask them for their insights and advice. They are incredibly wise. If you ask them for advice, they expand, making them feel loved.
  • They may feel bitter if they are exhausted, completed, or not heard. If they feel resentful, LOVE ON them – don’t leave them.
  • Projectors are deeply sensitive.

Reflectors

  • Reflectors need to talk for clarity. Sometimes they can talk a lot. Hold space for them to speak and not give them advice.
  • Need consistency. The Reflector energy changes a lot. They need stable energy in relationships because it’s what they know, and it stays the same.
  • They need time for clarity, sometimes a month or two.
  • Being in the right geographic location is very important. Reflectors won’t feel “home” if they are not in the correct place.
  • Reflectors can feel a lot of disappointment because they are deeply wise about the potential for humanity. They are also under pressure to make snap decisions because they can’t.
  • Reflectors may make decisions too quickly because they are under pressure, and then they get disappointed and stuck in the decision.
