Understanding your life through the 5 Human Design Types

Every single human is one of the types.

Human Design brings together principles of Astrology, the I Ching, Kabbalah, the Chakra system & Quantum Physics to create a distinctive system that acknowledges and celebrates the uniqueness in each human – no two charts are alike. Human Design is a beautiful tool for self-awareness. We have all experienced conditioning and expectations from the world around us and it causes us pain when we are not being our true selves. Learning about the Human Design Types is the first step to acceptance. It is about accepting yourself – but also having compassion and acceptance for others. The five energy types in Human Design all work differently, none better or worse than the other, just different.

And now let’s dive in to each Type a little

Your Essence: Internal non-verbal creative flow.

In the chart you are a Manifestor because you have an open Sacral & one motor to your Throat. Your energy will come in bursts and then you need to rest and retreat in between.

Your gift is initiating people into change & transformation through your creative flow. You’re here to have an impact & to experience creative freedom.  You possess the energy to initiate and bring your vision into reality.

Your emotions as a guide:  Anger is a sign of creative disruption. It is about not activating full flow of creative power.  It’s meant to give you a signal, so you get back in alignment. 

Strategy is your way of being in the world. Your Strategy is to “Inform” those you will impact with whatever you decide to do. You don’t have to get their approval; you just need to let them know what you are doing. It will create the path of least resistance.  When you inform, you decrease resistance and therefore your own anger and the anger of others.

Flow: Manifestors are unique in that you require nothing from outside of yourself.  Inspiration & your drive to create comes from within. It’s like you have a “divine spark” of creative flow. Because of this, it’s important to maintain a consistent connection with your higher self/internal voice.

Decision Making: Let your authority guide you to which ideas to act on. Acting from this inner truth will allow your full manifesting potential to be expressed. In the summary of your chart there will be something next to the word authority.  It will either be emotional, splenic or ego.

Your essence: To be masterful of who you are and be a builder.

In the chart you are a Generator because your Sacral (second to bottom square) is defined (colored) in your chart. Your energy is sustainable.

Generators are the work force & life force energy of the world. You have a sparkly, juicy aura when you are doing the right work and you can light up the world.

Your emotions as a guide:  Frustration arises when you have lost momentum or gone off your path. It’s meant to give you a signal, so you get back in alignment. 

Strategy is your way of being in the world. Your Strategy is to “Wait to Respond” to signs or things outside of yourself.  Response can be as subtle as you are driving, and you are getting hungry and you decide to get off the ramp to eat some food. Or it could be bigger like someone asking if you want to join their business. Don’t push, wait for life to unfold to you.

Goal: Find things that light you up. As a Generator you have this big, open, beautiful magnetic aura. It’s like this spiral of energy that brings things and even people towards you.  Because your aura is so penetrating, the world is better off if Generators are doing work that lights them up.  When you are happy and inspired by your work, everyone around you feels it and is also lit up.  Your aura effects the people around you.

Decision Making: You can figure out what you really want to be doing by getting to know your Sacral.  If you need clarity on anything, have someone ask you yes or no questions and answer with your Sacral sound. 

How do you Generators go about finding the right work?  

It’s about getting to know your Sacral. The sacral response gives the generator inner authority and permission to let go of what they feel obligated or compelled to do. Learn about your Sacral (coming soon).

Your essence: Find the most effective & efficient way to do things – you find the quickest route through things.

In the chart you are an Manifesting Generator because your Sacral is defined in your chart (like a Generator) plus you have one of the four motor centers to your Throat Center (like a Manifestor). Your energy is sustainable.

Manifesting Generatorss are the work force & life force energy of the world. You are uniquely capable of doing more than most. You thrive on multi-tasking and you are here to show the world that we can do things in a different way at a different speed.  

Your emotions as a guide:  Frustration + Anger (together = impatience) arises when your creative process is disrupted and you have lost momentum. The emotions are meant to give you a signal, so you get back in alignment. 

Strategy is your way of being in the world. Your Strategy is to “Wait to Respond” & “Inform”. First, respond to signs outside of yourself. Response can be as subtle as you are driving, and you are getting hungry and you decide to get off the ramp to eat some food. Or it could be bigger like someone asking if you want to join their business. You then need to inform those you will impact. Following your strategy is the path of least resistance.

It’s like this spiral of energy that brings things and even people towards you.  Sometimes you have to try things on (think throwing spaghetti) to see if they are right for you.  When you are happy and inspired by your work, everyone around you feels it and is also lit up.  Your aura effects the people around you.

Your essence: Manage, guide and direct others.

In the chart you are a Projector because your Sacral is not defined (it’s open/white) in your chart and you have no motor centers to your Throat.

Projectors have the gift of guiding and directing others by knowing how to ask the right questions. Projectors can be gifted organizers and see things that others often miss. They can see the big picture, recognize the talents and gifts of others, and bring people together.

Your emotions as a guide:  Bitterness arises when you are depleted (likely from trying to keep up with Generators). It’s a signal that it’s time to replenish your energy. You get bursts of energy which allows you to accomplish a lot in a short period of time.  You are also able to absorb sacral energy from others, but it’s not sustainable. You need to schedule rest and know when enough is enough.

Strategy is your way of being in the world. Rather than initiating, your Strategy is to wait to “Be invited”. When you live your strategy, life flows. Wait before you share your wisdom.  Even though you intrinsically know how to advise others, if you aren’t invited to share your knowledge, it will fall on deaf ears. The energetic exchange has to be there. Wait to be invited into “big” life decisions such as friendship, romance, career/work opportunities and where to live.  You might fear that by waiting, no one will ever invite you.  No need to worry, your aura does the talking. A projector who waits will be asked by the right people who value their wisdom.

Goal: Find your people – your niche. You are not here for everyone.  Each Projector is here to manage, guide, and direct a specific group of people.  Trust that they will invite you to share your wisdom in their lives. Do not waste time with those who are not “your people.” You are too valuable.  Don’t try to get recognition from people who don’t see you.  They don’t deserve you and you risk burning yourself out.  Activate your self-worth.  If you don’t find yourself valuable, why should others?

Decision Making: Talk decisions out with trusted people; essentially “guiding” yourself. Don’t worry about what the other person is saying it’s the act of talking it out (your voice, your own guidance) that gives you the answer.

Your essence: To measure through reflection of the human condition & human potential.

In the chart you are a Reflector because no energy centers are colored in (defined), you are a light energy being. 

You are a wise observer here to mirror for your community to magnify and reflect back, to sample and to be one with totality.  Reflectors are gifted at detecting when something is unusual or out of line around them.

Your emotions as a guide:  Disappointment arises when you see unfulfilled potential in others, or you need more time for yourself. Use the emotion as a signal to re-align.

Strategy is your way of being in the world. Your Strategy is to “Wait a Full Moon Cycle”. Reflectors are lunar beings. This makes you sensitive to the moon cycles & the cosmic environment.  Like the moon, you have a subtle glow with a powerful influence.  Focus on the present moment; who you are today.  Being so connected to the moon, you may feel like a different person every day. As a lunar being, your strategy is to connect with the lunar cycle.  This means waiting 28 days to make decisions. Use this time to discuss your options with trusted friends. 

Goal: Find a healthy community. You can’t change what is inside you, but you can change your environment. It’s important for Reflectors to find the right environment and community to call home. Too much time spent in an unhealthy environment can make them physically sick.  Also, learn to detach from the energy you are constantly absorbing from others.

Decision Making: During your moon cycle waiting period, a consistent peer group is important for you as they help you make decisions.  Discussing your options with friends allows you to “reflect” your decisions off of them.  This is part of your process.  When you hear it reflected through someone else, you can get clarity on it. For you, clarity only comes externally. Take your time. Don’t allow anyone to rush you.  You will suddenly have clarity, a knowing deep inside, if the offer was right for you or not.
