Have you ever thanked someone for doing their job?
If not, try it and see what happens. What if someone thanked you for doing what you are paid to do? You can make the world a better place by thanking people that constantly help us but we tend to take out our frustrations on.

What if you can ripple the effect of your appreciation?
On a recent flight, I gave the first flight attendant I saw a bag of chocolates with a note thanking the attendant team for caring for the passengers. I didn’t expect anything from it. But they definitely appreciated the appreciation and gave us extra love too.
Positive psychology studies show if you are thankful to someone, they are more likely to be kind to or thank others. That gratitude is like dominoes. So maybe other passengers had a better trip because of it too.
And then when checking into our hotel I watched and heard a very privileged couple’s rudeness to the front desk person helping them and it hurt my ears. I woke up the next morning realizing that front desk workers may need a box of chocolates or a note of appreciation too.
Needless to say, we left several notes on our trip. They don’t cost more than a piece of paper, but they mean a lot. And there are many people that may need a note or a few words of thanks, like our grocery store attendants that help us now and helped us through the pandemic, people who clean up our messes, our medical workers, and so on.
It’s a ripple of positive kindness that can change the world. Imagine if someone did that for you in whatever you were doing, your job, being a parent, caretaking, etc.
Who could you go out of your way to thank today?
